Lukas Sonnenberg

Lukas Sonnenberg is currently serving as an advisor for the Gig Economy Initiative at the German Development Cooperation (GIZ). In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the initiative’s policy output aimed at enhancing the framework conditions for fair work within the platform economy. His work involves capacity building for policymakers and decision-makers, focusing on critical issues such as the rights of digital workers. Lukas brings experience in public policy, particularly in the areas of data, algorithms, artificial intelligence (AI), and labour market policy. Before his involvement in international cooperation, Lukas worked as a political consultant at a Berlin-based consultancy. There, he advised major tech companies on various digital policy matters, including data policies. He holds a Master of Philosophy in Politics from the University of Oxford.
